Akio Milan Paak is Yamamoto Akio, and he is a member of Osaka's best techno unit Tanzmuzik. He looked cute like a Bunraku doll(Bunraku is Osaka's traditional marionette show. And it is a metaphor of Osaka citizen culture), and emitted 'flower-tech ambient noise soundtracks', then their various fragments started to breath harshly. And Akio banged Prophet 600, put out terrific noises from it, as crying "Here I am!!", in this chaos + heartbursting tension, he repainted all negative energy into power, courage + hope.
Being contrast to Akio, Fukuoka's hero DFL (Inaoka Ken + Ni-Ya)made us relax by their magnanious + surrounding sound constructions. It was far from Tokyonesque techno that tend to be so fussy. Absorbed ouselves to its comfortableness for a while, suddenly their classic 'Blood + Tears' roared. Then after the excitement, chilling out by flower-tech ambient...perfect. But later, Inaoka said that they were in bad condition this day. "It was worst." Then, how exiting is their best performance?
By the way, main act of this party was Juno Reactor from Britain. Due to their machine trouble, the opening was delayed more than 2 hours. And their sounds were more professional, but 'synth featured instrumental rock & roll'. Who need it? Okay, we don't mind.
(Later, '95/01, Akio & DFL severally released from Torema + Syzygy)
CuePlus is growing better. He plays most beutiful tone from Roland LA tone generator, than any technocrat on the Earth.
Chiba Rader, their vocalist Mogi Jun-ichi disguised as MC of afternoon TV show, wore bad tasted suits which is with price card still, performed karaoke show. It seemed that they think 'techno is shameful', so they intentionally perform shameful techno. Finally, they do not look shy. Is it right?
B-2 Dep't played 'flower-tech acid ambient' under their new direction. People wondered to it, but recepted kindly, at last. 'New Dep't' will display their real ability soon.
Next, Kireina Kohmori (means 'Beautiful Bats') are skilled keyboard players that have been rare in this scene. They are melodic + nuanced, as admirers YMO . Furthermore, video that was edited along with construction of the music (its materials are CFs, animes & etc) was splendid, but later, barbarously, they cut up their own live video + YMO's Tokyo Dome video.
Following Control Love is Yoshida Hiito, aka DAT Zoids. His music is selfish
mixtures of EZ listening + jungle + acid. The music was nice, but we are
tired that he operated DAT (+ often missed the operation) leisurely between
songs.
The last, the live PA of CuePlus was, saying 'I judge + summarize '94 techno
!', special performance intentionally oriented acid + trance that was 'in'
last year. And it was great, he did not bragged! Hirakawa Takeshi's vivid
tracks came into collision with fierce scratces of DJ Narita, rhythm fought to
chaos, and Hirakawa original warm melodies sounded imminently with nuance
than ever.
They expressed the realms of boy's mind in which 'kid' & 'adult' struggle
each other. CuePlus became excellent now. their (Hirakawa with support of DJ
Narita) live PA is the best in Nippon, we think.
